Rijk Zwaan has developed a lettuce type that is specially designed for convenience and efficiency. The assortment comprises of 5 different lettuce types and has 3 times more leaves than other lettuces. In our program of 17 May, Derek Hallendorf, General Manager at Rijk Zwaan tells us more about Salanova lettuce and the advantages it has for growers, food serving companies, retailers and consumers.

Louis Olivier is the Manager of Vaalharts Cotton. He discusses the challenges that need to be address and stresses that the Cotton industry is healthy at its core. Cooperation and trust between roll players is the basis which the Cotton industry must build its success.

Alexander Gibson of Doornkraal Agri is nominated as Agri Western Cape and Santam Agriculture Young farmers of the year. Doornkraal Agri produces fruit and vegetables. He tells us more about their farming enterprise and how they make use of the whole value chain.

Arrie van Ravenswaay is a drone expert at Elsenburg Agricultural Institute. In our program he says’ “ by allowing farmers to become more targeted, they are using less chemical fertilizers, resulting in reduced input costs and better margins.”

Ernst Mielman, Director of Skade Genade explains how they assist farmers in risk management, especially hail damages.
