Landbou Radio – 27 July 2021

Integrity includes the quality of being honest and in any farming business integrity is key. When it comes to record keeping of your cattle, it must be done correctly. Studbook information does not end at your farm gate, it serves as a guideline and reference for the producer that buys your cattle to better his or her own enterprise. In our program of 27 July, Fourie Scheepers of Zinabos Bonsmaras tells us about his record keeping method and the importance of being registered at SA Studbook. The bulls of Zinabos Bonsmaras undergo carcass-trait measurements. Fourie also tells us about the management of his older cows in the herd.

Leon van der Westhuizen, also known as Leon the Milkman has some information on specialty cheeses and the process of producing these cheeses. He also tells us how hard cheeses like Parmesan is made.

Dr. Jaco de Villiers, Management Practice Specialist and farmer talks about the branding of your farming business. You must understand the methods of marketing your cattle. And remember to use the words ‘thank you’ They must be used just as frequently as your breathing…. Share it in honesty.
