It is not easy to establish a boutique wine estate in these current economic times but Paul Siguqu, Owner of Klein Goederust wine farm near Franschhoek is determined to make his business a success despite the odds. In our program of 7 February, Paul tells us about his beginnings and how he bought this farm. Paul grew up as the child of a farm labourer. After purchasing the farm, Hein Koegelenberg from La Motte Wine Estate, a neighbour, supported Paul and is still a mentor to him.

Lindi Grobler, Director of Agri Alchemi, talks about the benefits of leaf sampling and the correct procedure to collect these samples. It is of no use to do leaf sampling as a quick fix of a problem. You need to find the root of the problem and then address the issue at hand.

Peter Cherry, Founder of Cherry Irrigation, tell us about the beginnings of the company. They are celebrating 35 years in business this year. Peter also talks about technology and how it improved over the years.

Marvoulous Zhou, Manager Plant breeding Project at SASRI has information on the process of plant breeding and encourages the young to pursue plant breeding as a career.
