Landbou Radio – 6 April 2022

The Biedouw Boergoat Stud, near Clanwilliam in the Biedouw valley is situated on one of the oldest farmsteads in the country. This is a hardy environment with dry summers and has a very low winter rainfall.  In our program of 6 April, Joubert van der Merwe Senior tells us more about the history of the farm, and how they managed to keep on farming in these harsh conditions. Joubert has one of the finest Boergoat Studs in the country. He talks about selection and his dream to breed a world champion Boergoat.

Joubert van der Merwe, Junior, talks about the lessons his father has taught him. Respect and good communication are some of the most important aspects when it comes to a relationship between a father and son. In our program, he shares some of these life lessons with other young farmers.

Jan-Louis Venter, Production Manager at NWGA talks about the Sustainable Cape Wools Standard and the benefits of the audits done.

Dr Johnny vd Merwe, Director of AMT tells us more about the latest trends in the grain and livestock markets.
