The Angora Goat is globally known for its fibre, also known as mohair. It is one of the most sustainable natural fibres. Every farm differs in its management plant with variations in land use and shearing, but all mohair farmers must adhere to the Sustainable Guidelines of the Mohair Industry. In our program of 10 November, Petrie Maré, Manager Technical Field Services of The House of Fibre, tells us more about the various lengths of fibre, fibre diameter and quality types.
Riaan Liebenberg of Hanri Meatmasters farms near Upington. He started farming with Meatmasters in 1999. He breeding objectives are according to the breed standards set by the Meatmaster Breeders Association. He only sells sheep that are functional with good form. Riaan is a member of the KalahariKaroo Meatmaster Group and they will be selling top quality Meatmasters on 13 November.
Chris Potgieter of Klaargoud Meatmasters, farm in the Duneveld in the Northern Cape Province. These animals are well adapted to their environment, are hardy and fertile. Because of the vastness of his farm, camp systems are used with success. He is also a member of the KalahariKaroo Meatmaster Group.
