Landbou Radio – 22 November 2021

The farm Celebratio is situated between Calitzdorp and Oudshoorn in the Little Karoo. It is owned by Gerhard Meyer, a third-generation farmer. When experts said that the land wat not suitable for the cultivation of any crops, Gerhard refused to take no for an answer. He planted the first pomegranates in 2008. In 2010 he planted 20ha of the Wonderful cultivar and between 2014 an 2015 another 17ha. In order to maintain control over the product and quality, a brand new packhouse and cold-room facility was constructed. The packhouse is Global Gap certified and created 70 additional jobs in the area. In our program of 22 November, Gerhard tells us the story of his beginnings and the growth over the last 5 years.
